Abstract

The history of the Moscow Theological Academy is not yet abundant in research and publications. Among the few studies, the works of Protodeacon Sergei Golubtsov stand out. He began studying the history of the MDA as a student and continued to do so throughout his life († August 1, 2006). His work can be characterized from two angles: 1) the thoroughness inherited from several generations of Golubtsov scholars; and 2) the unusually liberal outlook that he adopted in his youth as a protest movement of the soul against official ideology.
