This article introduces into scientifi circulation a part of the manuscript of St. Theophan the Recluse, stored in the Russian Panteleimon Monastery on Athos, namely, the 49th chapter of the «Invisible War» in the translation of the Hierarch. The text is given in comparison with the Greek text of St. Nicodemus the Hagiorite and a new Russian translation made by the author. Along the way, some remarks are made about the composition of the three well known editions of the Invisible War. Also, for the first time in Russian, a translation from Greek of the famous note of the Hagiorite is published, which served as the beginning of a long discussion between St. Nicodemus and St. Athanasius of Paros.
