The publication offers a first Russian translation of the Epistle by St. Cyril of Alexandria containing an interpretation of the sacrifice as described in Leviticus. The introduction sheds light on the addressee’s identity and on the time of writing. It also provides a survey of the contents of the Epistle. The author notes the typological character of the proposed interpretation and its close connection with the Saint’s christological and soteriological views. The author also mentions other typological interpretations of this excerpt in the writings of the Early Fathers.
