Sergius (Golubtsov), bishop. Realistic and iconographic styles of Church art and their ontological evaluation. Part I
Publication of hegumen Andronicus (Trubachev)
Keywords:
painting, iconography, abstract and realistic styles of art, ontologyAbstract
The present study aims to reveal the essence of the realistic first and then the iconographic trends individually. The A. briefly reviews the major milestones in their development. By comparing both directions, the author shows how each of them reveals the fullness of Christian truths, their depth and sublimity. The first part of the paper contains the preface, introduction and the first chapter. The A. concludes that the missing of abstract and realistic artistic techniques create and rich impression. This explains the allowance for the co-existence of both directions in art, which mutually complement each other.
