Features of the Publications of St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) in the “Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate”

Abstract

St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) entered church history as one of the brightest preachers of the word of God of the XX century. Difficulties, hardships, the death of his wife, long and painful exiles did not extinguish the light of Christ’s faith in the Crimean archbishop. During the Great Patriotic War, St. Luke became needed by the state. The archbishop began to write articles on the expanses of the “Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate” condemning and punishing malicious fascism aimed at the extermination of the Soviet people. This article aims at drawing a clearer portrait of the Crimean Archbishop. Comparing the publications in the “Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate” with the sermons of St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), the author of the article paints the image of the bishop as a very patriotic and deeply religious person who was able to help, save and comfort the congregation entrusted to him by God despite his own sorrow and pain.
