Biography

Born July 29, 1969 in Leningrad into a family of employees. In 1976-84 studied at high school № 79 in the Kalininsky district of Leningrad.

In 1984-92 studied at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute in the Department of Mechanics and Control Processes. After that he was accepted as a graduate student at the same department and in 1995 defended his PhD thesis and received the degree of a Candidate of Technical Sciences.

From 1995-98 he was a student at the St Petersburg Theological Seminary; from 1998-2002 he was a student at the St Petersburg Theological Academy. - He graduated from St. Petersburg Theological Academy.

On March 26th, 1999, during his first year at St. Petersburg Seminary, Vladyka was tonsured into the monastic veil in the St. Petersburg Cardinal's Cathedral. He was ordained a hierodeacon on August 28, 1999 and ordained a, hieromonk on June 3, 2002. He completed his studies at St. Petersburg Academy of Archbishoprics and received a PhD on "Senior Ministry in the teaching and life of the Church".

From 2002-11. - Lecturer at St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finance. From December 2004 to June 2011 served as Dean of the Faculty of International Students. Supervised graduate theses and PhD theses written by seminary students at the academy. Also, he provided pastoral care for parishioners, students and pupils of St. Petersburg State University of Archaeology and Ethics.

Since 2008, he was spiritual director of the voluntary movement "Children's Mission", which was born in the walls of the Theological Academy. Teachers and students of SPbDA organised spiritual and educational work with children in orphanages and other orphanages in the St. Petersburg Metropolis.

In the autumn of 2011 he was released from the position of teacher at St. Petersburg Academy of Education and Science and was appointed to the staff of the Church of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Vyritsa village, Leningrad region.

In 2011-14. - Doctoral student at the All-Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies. The topic of his doctoral dissertation is "The doctrine of matter in sacramental and anthropological aspects in the works of the theologians of the Alexandrian School, the Great Cappadocians and St. Maxim Confessor".

12 July 2015. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia presented, hieromonk Kirill with the Doctoral Cross.

In 2016-20, he taught the author's course in Christian anthropology for undergraduate students of the Russian Christian Academy for the Humanities (RCHA).

By the decision of the Holy Synod of July 16-17, 2020 (Journal No. 41) he was appointed Rector of the Nikolo-Ugreshskaya Theological Seminary.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of 23-24 September 2021 (journal no. 89) he was appointed Vicar of the Stavropegial Monastery in Nikolo-Ugresh.

On 18 July 2022 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen and given the hegumen's baton by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill during the Liturgy at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

By the Holy Synod's decision of 25 August 2022 (journal no. 68) he was appointed Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, relieving him of his duties as Rector of the Nikolo-Ugresh Theological Seminary and Vicar of the Nikolo-Ugresh Stavropigial Monastery; he was elected Vicar of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, bearing the title "Zvenigorodsky" (journal no 69).

Since August 25, 2022 he has been a member of the Synodal Commission for the canonization of saints (ex-officio).

On 30 August 2022 he was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite by Metropolitan Dionisy of Voskresensk, Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, in Novospassky Stauropegial Monastery in Moscow.

Ordained bishop on 20 September 2022 in the throne room of Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. He was consecrated on September 21 during the Divine Liturgy at Zachatievsky Stavropigial Monastery in Moscow. Services were presided over by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

Since August 25, 2022, he has been a member of the Synodal Commission for the canonization of saints (ex officio).
