Abstract

He has lived quite a long life by common standards. When he finished writing his memoirs (in 1965), he had recently passed the age of 76. He had long since retired, but he was a Doctor of Philology and an active member of the State Geographical Society. And his death was not far off - he died on 12 April 1968 on the newly formed Astronautics Day.
