Abstract
The year 2017 marked the hundredth anniversary of the opening of the Holy Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and the restoration of the Patriarchate. At the same time the persecution of Christians in Russia began and the first new martyrs sanctified the Land of Russia by their feat. As noted in the message of the Jubilee Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church, which took place in Moscow from 29 November to 2 December 2017, "in these persecutions and sufferings for the name of Christ, many faithful children of the Church displayed the highest feat of faith and courage, and accepted death and the unfading crown of glory. It was an age of formidable trials for all the peoples of the Fatherland. As a result, the country was on the brink of destruction. But through the prayers of St. Tikhon, the host of new martyrs and confessors of the Church of Russia, the Lord leaned on the people and did not allow evil to triumph completely.
