The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that personal meetings served as a crucial form of interaction between church and secular authorities in resolving pressing issues. The author employs standard historical methods to analyze sources documenting the engagement between the Church and the Council. These personal meetings were primarily reflected in transcripts and memoranda of the conversations conducted. The article analyzes personal meetings between representatives of secular and ecclesiastical authorities in 1943–1944 as a mechanism of interaction. Based on an analysis of G. G. Karpov’s conversations with Patriarch Sergius, the study explores methods for defending church interests and the dynamics of the state's softening religious policy.
