Bardaiṣan’s Doctrine on Fate

This article provides short biographic information about Bardaiṣan (154- 222/223) and discusses the problem of authorship of the work «The Book of the Laws of Countries». In the main part the A. considers the value of key concepts of Bardaiṣan - fate, nature and freedom, which then in detail are considered in the context of Bardaiṣan’s doctrine. In the conclusion of the article the importance of the doctrine of Bardaiṣan anti-fatalistic and antiastrological polemic is defined and an Orthodox assessment of the ideology of the Syrian writer is given.
