The purpose of the article is to analyze the prerequisites and results of the Diamper Council and their influence on the further fate of the Malankara Church. For this, the author uses axiomatic and inductive methods. The brief results of the study are as follows: the Diamper Cathedral is a key event in the church life of Indian Christians, the scale and importance of which can hardly be overestimated; The decisions of the Diamper Council affected all the Christians of India, who, against their will, found themselves in completely different conditions of church life. On the contrary, the decisions of the Diamper Council not only turned a significant part of the Christian population against European church leaders, but also affected the interests of the Hindu communities, becoming one of the terms that ultimately formed in the minds of the indigenous people of India the image of a European as an invader who does not take into account any local culture. and traditions, nor with the local population as a whole. It is quite logical that in a short historical period after the completion of the Council, relations between the local clergy and Christian communities, on the one hand, and European colonizers and missionaries, on the other, began to worsen.
