Priest Dmitry Baritsky in his article "'Contradictions' in the Gospel Narrative through the Prism of Generative Narratology" attempts to resolve the seeming contradictions that arise between the Gospel narratives using the tools of narrative criticism. The solution is based on the basic position of narratology that the narrative of an event is not the event itself. Narrative emerges as a result of the interpretive activity of the author's consciousness, which processes reality in order to conceptualise it. Generative narratology is used, which helps to identify the main stages of this process: "happening", "event", "fact", "sign". As a result, the author focuses on two generative levels of narrative, such as "event" and "fact". It is noted that for the transition from "event" to "fact", the hermeneutic operations that result in the "event" and "fact" are significant.
