В данной статье рассматриваются утверждения американского библеиста Барта Эрмана о продолжительности периода между земной жизнью Иисуса Христа и временем написания канонических Евангелий. В начале статьи приводится обзор мнений учёных, которые обращались к вопросу о существовании долгого периода устной передачи евангельского учения. Далее приводятся мнения исследователей, выступающих против существования устного периода до написания Евангелий. Затем даётся оценка аргументов, возникающих при обращении к культурному фону греко-римского мира. В результате анализа культурной среды греко-римского мира, в свете вопроса о происхождении канонических Евангелий, была показана необоснованность позиции Барта Эрмана в отношении продолжительности устной передачи евангельской традиции.
