The article is devoted to the Supreme Church Council, formed at the Holy Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1917–1918. The Council, which united bishops, clergy and laity, approved the main provisions concerning the activities of the Supreme Church Council as one of the bodies of highest governance in the Russian Orthodox Church. The composition, number of members and their powers were determined, and elections were held for the newly formed body of supreme church authority.
