Abstract

This article examines the nature of the eschatology that Origen sets forth in his famous treatise «De principiis» and which is built around his equally famous doctrine of apocatastasis. In particular, the author of the article tries to show how the text of Scripture (primarily the description of the telos in 1 Cor. 15), the theological ideas of Origen himself and his interaction with philosophy correlate with each other, forming a single whole. The article proves that the universalist eschatology presented in the treatise is rooted in the text of Scripture, thoughtfully integrated into Origen's theological system and deliberately formulated by him in opposition to the ideas of pagan philosophy.
