«Orationes ethicae» of St. Simeon the New Theologian: Questions of Dating, Manuscript Tradition, Addressee and Title

The article deals with a range of issues related to the dating of the «Orationes ethicae» of St. Symeon the New Theologian. On the basis of the text of words their hypothetical addressee is established, on the basis of the handwritten tradition the unity of the corpus of sundry sermons is traced. Special attention is paid to the name of the corpus - «Orationes ethicae», and to the problems that do not allow it to be attributed to all the Sermons of the corpus. This article is intended to outline the main textual problems faced by a researcher of the Moral Sermons.
