Life and Creative Path of the Don Writer Roman Kumov (1883–1919) and Motives of His Works

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the biography and creative heritage of the Don writer Roman Kumov, a contemporary of the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. Roman Kumov was one of the brightest representatives of literary creation of religious themes of his time, but, unfortunately, he is little known nowadays. This study presents biographical information about the author and an overview of his initial and most basic works. The main collections of Roman Kumov’s literary works, his first works as a young man, further basic and fundamental works, several plays and one mystery are considered. The article talks about a significant contribution to literature by a little-known author, which should be sanctified and researched in our time. Kumov’s stories are devoted to native lands, real personalities and encounters that make one think about the further path of life.
