Religious Motifs in the Cycle “Venice” by K. R.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to consider the characteristic features inherent in the spiritual poetry of K. R. on the example of the lyrical cycle “Venice”. The connections of K. R.’s work with the “Venetian texts” of the poets of the Silver Age are taken into account, and differences in the interpretation of similar motifs are revealed. The peculiarities of the system of motifs and images in the poems from the cycle of K. R. “Venice” are determined by the religious type of artistic consciousness of the author. The so-called Venetian “cliches” receive an original embodiment in the poet’s poems and reflect the poet’s Christian worldview. The vector of the poet’s lyrical consciousness in the cycle is marked: from the painting of an Italian artist to “native icons”, from a beautiful but largely alien culture to longing for Orthodox Russia. For Konstantin Romanov, Venice is important, first of all, from the point of view of personal experiences: philosophical, love and spiritual.
