This article is an attempt to study the novel “Power and Glory” by Graham Green, as well as to examine the personality of the main character, an unnamed priest, his actions and motives from the point of view of the Orthodox doctrine of the ideals of Christian life and especially the priest. The historical context chosen by the author makes it possible to reveal a person’s personality as much as possible, to show in practice his beliefs and the strength of his faith in moments of danger. The author keeps the main character in constant mortal danger and with the help of internal monologues, reveals the image of a believing priest who honestly talks to himself and others. The monologues and dialogues depict a conflict between the high vocation of a priest and personal weaknesses, the need to set an example and reality. At the same time, the hero of the novel is unequivocally positive and shows love for one’s neighbor to the point of self-sacrifice, sincere faith, humility and repentance in the face of God.
