The purpose of the article is an attempt to study the writing strategy of Ivan the Terrible based on his literary works. This issue can rightfully be considered debatable, due to the many existing opinions regarding whether the tsar was truly an outstanding master of words. The object of the study will be texts authored by Ivan the Terrible, such as: “The First Message of Ivan the Terrible to Prince Andrei Kurbsky”, “Message to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery”.
