Archetype of the Prophet in the Poems of A. Pushkin “Prophet” and E. Yevtushenko “Prayer before the Poem”

Abstract

The article is aimed to analyze the functioning of the archetype of the prophet in famous works: the poem of the same name by A. S. Pushkin (1826) and “Prayer before the poem” by the modern poet E. A. Yevtushenko (1964). The problem posed in the article is dictated by the need to focus on the biblical component of the poem by A. S. Pushkin and show the continuity of the connection between times, the tradition of “being a poet-prophet” in the poem by E. Evtushenko. Research attention is focused on the concepts of “prophet”, “prophetic service” in their theological aspect, while the mission of the poet is considered as the highest vocation.
