Abstract

The article describes historу of occurance of Christmas carols, their difference and separation from pagan «sowing» carols. If the semantic core of the «sowing» carols was a magical incantation rite performed in order to influence the forces of nature, then the Christmas carols always were a proclamation of the greatest event of the Incarnation of God and the glorification of the main participants of the Christmas Night. The article also describes the forms of performance of both types of carols. The literary form of Christmas carols is exist nowadays, and there are many ways for it’s interpretation in musical cultural sphere and Church’s pedagogy.
