Abstract

From the earliest times, the institution of monasticism has been a significant pillar of the Church. Formed as an isolated entity in difficult situations, it grew in strength and gave the Christian world the greatest holy ascetics, their invaluable works, and various liturgical traditions and practices. Monasteries as strongholds of spirituality and silence, removed from the worldly bustle, as well as monks as models of humility and virtue, on the one hand, at all times are an example to follow and, on the other hand, are the pillars of statehood and the Orthodox faith. To date, the successful development of monastic life in the Russian Federation is evidenced by the statistics itself. Thus, according to the results, timed to the celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, over the past years the number of monasteries has increased significantly: from 30 thousand (male and female monasteries combined) to 50 thousand. In this regard, it seems important and necessary to understand the principles and regulation of the foundation and organization of monastic monasteries. This article will also cite a number of canonical rulings concerning the foundation and organization of monasteries.
