Archpriest Nikolai Afanasiev (1893–1966) taught church law at the St. Sergei Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris in 1932–1940 and 1947–1966. The text of the lectures is published on the basis of an authorized typewritten copy stored in the archive of Fr. Nicholas Athaniev at the St Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris.
