Abstract

This article examines the various areas of diocesan activity of the Russian Orthodox Church in the contemporary legal context of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Baku Diocese is developing its activities despite the main limitation — religious and cultural: the majority of the country’s population is Muslim. At the same time, this does not prevent the diocesan structures (which are relatively small) from carrying out social work, prison ministry, publishing, representing themselves in the media, missionary work (including among youth), establishing international contacts, and interacting with representatives of both government authorities and other faiths and national groups.
