The View of Russian Theologians of the XIX–XX Cent. on the Phenomenon of Pastoral Vocation

This article is consisted of some issues concerning the principles of clergy' candidates’ preparations. The author focuses on the vocation to the priesthood and its interpretation in pastoral theology. The article notes the signs of «vocation» and «non-vocation» to the priestly ministry, and gives examples of vocations to the priesthood from the history of the Church. The author emphasizes that the vocation to the priesthood is a gift from God, but it requires a person's efforts and serious preparation for the ordination.
