Abstract

The missionary activity of Anglo-Saxon monks in continental Europe during the late seventh to mid-eighth century is still little studied in domestic church-historical scholarship. At the same time the influence of the Anglo-Saxons on the formation of church life on the continent in the early Middle Ages was enormous and this phenomenon deserves the most serious attention.
