Abstract

This edition is a collection of studies dedicated to the anniversary of Archbishop Alexander Golitsyn (b. 1948). The school "Theophany", founded by him and a group of his students and associates, is a notable phenomenon in the study of the history and spirituality of the Christian East, so it is not surprising that the anniversary of Archbishop Alexander is celebrated with a collection of scholarly articles. The main part of the book consists of an Introduction (pp. 1-7) and four thematic sections written by A. A. Orlov: "Jewish and Christian Apocalyptics and Mysticism" (pp. 11-96), "Theophany (Epiphany) and Transfiguration" (pp. 99-173), "The Jewish Temple and Christian Liturgy" (pp. 177-263), and "Ps. Dionysius, Plato, Proclus" (pp. 267-375). Eighteen articles by eminent specialists in Jewish, liturgical, and patristic studies from the United States, Great Britain, and Hungary have been published in these sections. Many of them are students and followers of Jubilee.
