The article is devoted to the little-studied side of Aivazovsky's work. The glory of Aivazovsky as a marine painter hid many other meaningful sides of his immensely great heritage not only from innocent viewers, but also from professional art historians. Among the variety of themes and subjects touched by the artist, works that are addressed to biblical and evangelical subjects stand out clearly and powerfully. This theme went through the entire creative life of the famous marine painter, having its own specific manifestations, being realized in the marine genre and colored with romantic features inherent in his artistic nature. Whatever storms Aivazovsky depicts on his canvases, his paintings always manifest the hope of salvation. In this one can read the sincere, good-natured Christian soul of the artist himself.
