Abstract

The article examines the Old Testament apocrypha associated with the personality of Melchizedek. The texts discussed below relate to various historical moments, which allows us to trace the dynamics of the development of the doctrine of Melchizedek. These works are a synthesis of the Messianic and eschatological views of the Qumran community. They point to the process of forming the qualities of the Messiah during the period of the Second Jerusalem Temple, since the main function of Melchizedek is the salvation of the chosen people in the key apocrypha under consideration.
