The Biblical and Archaeological Works of Prof. Ivan Gavrilovich Troitsky for Modern Orthodox Theology

The purpose of the article is to show the main works of Professor Ivan Gavrilovitch Troytskyi’s role and his contribution to the Russian academic Archeological Science in the Saint-Petersburg Theological Academy and his scientific and pedagogical works in the light of the modern research: five review articles of western researches, lithographed synopsis of lectures (1887–1912) and a students’ book (1913). The analysis of these works allows to follow the stages of his own scientifical and methodological formation in understanding the discipline, based on the combination of urgent scientifical methods and Orthodox theology. A number of his hypothesis have been verified with archeological excavations in the 20th — beginning 21st centuries. His methodological innovation — integration of the newest scientifical achievements in the Christian apologetics — remains relevant nowadays.
