Abstract

The article discusses the question of the interpretation of the words «His feet are like unto fine Brass» (Apoc. 1, 15 and 2, 18). The characteristic of the current state of the issue and an overview of the most authoritative today concept of Colin Hemer on the meaning of the word «chalcolibanon» is given. Considering the issue in the context of the history of exegesis, the author highlights the weaknesses of Hemer’s concept and proposes a new approach to the problem, coming to the conclusion, that chalcolibanon is the regional name for orichalcum, an alloy of copper and zinc ore, which existed in Asia Minor.
