Karl Barth. «The Epistle to the Romans»: Breaking of the Liberal Paradigm

Abstract

The liberal theology and its paradigm for many years defined methodological approaches in the western Biblical Studies. The experiment of critical judgment of the liberal theology heritage made by Karl Bart allowed returning Biblical Studies to the soil of studying the God’s Word in terms of its Subject again. Without belittling the value of the history-critical method (HCM), Bart showed that, in spite of the historical and cultural and religious gap between our time and times of the St. Paul, it is quite surmountable as the Subject which the apostle Paul steadily
addresses stays uniform at all times.
