The article discusses the idea of St. Tikhon (Bellavin) of dioceses being formed according to the ethnic principle, which arose during his rule of the Aleutian diocese. The author investigates the causes and consequences of the failure to implement this idea, analyzes the current situation among Orthodox jurisdictions in North America and concludes on the main problem of church life in America.
