The subject of this article is the study of the question of the translation of svt. Tikhon (Bellavin) from Yaroslavl to Vilna in 1913. The possibility of influencing this decision of the Holy Synod of Yaroslavl governor Count D. N. Tatishchev is being considered. Being a moderate patriot, he could not get along with Archbishop Tikhon, who has right-wing political views and supports the monarchist movement. The saint was an honorary member (possibly honorary chairman) Yaroslavl branch of the Union of the Russian People, took part in its events. The issue is also considered from another angle, as the desire of the clergy to support the Vilna diocese with the figure of Archbishop Tikhon in the pre-war period. Archbishop Agafangel (Preobrazhensky) was unable to establish good relations with the monarchical circles of the Northwestern Region. In particular, in August 1913, he caused their dissatisfaction with the unwillingness to make a procession to the monument of Governor M. N. Muravyov-Vilensky, when the 50th anniversary of his administration of the region was celebrated. In December 1913 Archbishop Tikhon was appointed by the Most Highly approved decree of the Holy Synod as the Right Reverend of Vilna, Archbishop Agafangel as the Right Reverend of Yaroslavl. In January-February 1914, Archbishop Tikhon surrendered his cases and performed farewell services in Yaroslavl and Rostov. The congregation and clergy express their sorrow over his transfer and solemnly escort him to the train to St. Petersburg. In January 1914, at a meeting of the Yaroslavl City Duma, the public members decided to elect Archbishop Tikhon as an honorary citizen of Yaroslavl.
