«“The Cross is the guardian of the Universe…” About the Miraculous Cross in the Church of the Theotokos of the Sign in Pereyaslavskaya Sloboda

Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of the history of one of the Moscow shrines – the Miraculous Cross. The Miraculous Cross became famous at the end of the XIX century in the Moscow Passionate Maiden Monastery for numerous miracles. Currently it is located in the metropolitan Church of the Theotokos of the Sign in Pereyaslavskaya Sloboda. Special attention is paid to the veneration of this shrine, which continued in Soviet times, despite the gradual loss of its history, which was due to the repeated transfer of the Miraculous Cross during the years of persecution from one temple in Moscow to another.
